Yes, this ends tonight!

This blogging thing, I don't get it, in the personal sense. As in, why would anybody do it unless you were famous or you were a company or something.

There's too many 'people' with weblogs glorifying themselves and their own self-importance and self-adoration with endless pictures of themselves taken under the illusion they were doing something of interest to the world. They maybe of interest to some people, but these people are just as bad. It's like flies to sh*#$. All of these people are eccentially oxygen-thieves.

For example, this blog. This is not going to change the course of the world or anything like it, it will hopefully get me some kind of mark in online PR, and that's probably the height of it. After this, it will probably never be viewed ever again.

It's been emotional, in the sense of I've got alot off my chest.

Up until a few weeks ago I never had any idea how much time and effort it takes for organisations to get themselves high up on the Google List. It's incredible.

Somebody like me who had no idea what was involved, I just thought the links were there because they were the most popular or something, I thought they were just....there.

I never knew anybody used Search Engine Optimisation, not that i knew what that was either, to get their pages featured higher up the Google list.

One thing I do like though is the deal with the 'Paid-For' listings; they kind of have a nice justice to them when you discover that they only get clicked 20% of the time compared to the sites on the left of a Google results page, or the 'Organic' listings, which get 80% of the clicks. In my view, they deserve that figure because of the lack of effort they put into it compared to the 'Organic' listings. It's like when rich-kids do nothing in school then get 'Doddy' to buy them a place in Griffth College doing law or something pretentious (I love law, by the way) like that and coming out of it with a career they don't deserve, and a wage they don't deserve. There's no justice in that but with the Google List, there is.

Okay, eh, where do I start on this topic. Sex on the internet. Probably the most searched for thing on the internet I'd say. Always reminds me of a certain kind of person; a greasy looking weirdo hunched over his P.C. that has filth encrusted keys with his earphones in so his Mammy can't hear what he's up to but it's okay because he has his bedroom door locked aswell, just in case......probably has a lisp aswell......*shivers*

Enough of this. Basically, I think it's for the people who are never going to get 'it'. Maybe that a bit harsh but I think it's true. There are people in this world who will go outside, into the world, and discover the things that makes life worth living for themselves, and then there are people who for whatever reason, be it shyness, lack of confidence, shyness,....whatever (these things are not my problems), will sit in their rooms (as described above) and druel over porn for hours on end.

So, really, there is a market for it, it is a multi-million dollar industry, because there will always be these people in the world.

Virtual Communities

We're all part of one, whether's it's Bebo, Nimble, Facebook or the terrible MySpace or whatever else is out there, so we all have a basic idea of what a virtual community is.

For me, I'm only a member of Bebo, and my god does it bore the b%*£#@ off me. I hate it. I was only discussing lastnight actually with my friend Aoife that virtual communities like Bebo and MySpace has ruined the old game of taking some time to get to know somebody, which is a tragedy in itself because people know you before you know them, have made up their minds and have prejudged you , be it positively or negatively, before ever even meeting you or taking the time to share a conversation with you. These things used to be fun.

Now though, if you meet some one on a night out or whatever, there's always the likelihood of one of you going onto a site like Bebo or Facebook and having a little read through your profile, pictures, comments, where you've been in the world.....blah, blah, blah....nothing that is of anyone elses business but yours unless they actually talked to you and showed an interest.

Of course some people love this type of thing and much prefer it to actually having to talk to another human-being.

Vitual communities do of course have their positives though. For example, they're a good, cheap way to stay in contact with people. They are also great ways for people to share their knowledge and interest in a particular topic or product or whatever. This is also a great way for companys to get feedback on their products and services.

To conclude, virtual communities are a good thing (except Second Life; GET A LIFE!!!) but they're not for me.

DJ Ray Dartley Launches 'Positive Age Week'

Pensioners joined Irish DJ Ray Dartley to launch Age Action Ireland's 'Positive Age Week' in the Merrion Hotel in Dublin yesterday (18.11.08).
The central aim of the 'Positive Age Week' is to dispel the many negative perceptions that surround ageing, to transform attitudes and to rraise much-needed funds.
During 'Positive Age Week', runninf from Monday 8th until Sunday 15th December, people are encouraged to organise parties that celebrate the elderly, whether it's a small family gathering or a street party.
Deputy Chief Executve of Age Action Ireland, Lorraine Dorgan, commented:"We need to celebrate th efact that we are living longer; that ageing is not a burden but an opportunity."
Age Action Ireland is the national independent organisation on ageing and older people and whose aim is to improve the quality of life of older people.

Moving Up

Moved up to college last week despite saying I was going to commute this year. I love driving in the mornings. I LOVE the road from Navan to Dundalk aswell; after just a few months I know where all the bumps in the roads are. I even have my own set overtaking areas on the journey...love it!

But that's all behind me now...

Moved in with the girls, which is a bit different to last year when I lived in Dublin with three of the lads. All a bit of a haze really now...good times. But I'm not complaining, so far so good! Never thought that after just a few months of college I'd be moved in with my new friends but that's just how cool the people in this course are. Cheers!

Moving Up

Moving up to Dundalk on Wednesday and I can't wait now!

The struggle to get out bed this morning when I had been working ten hours Saturday, drinking Bourbon doubles all Saturday night, working ten hours Sunday again and then staying up to watch Fight Club which I hadn't seen in ages.....it all really took it's toll!

Up out of bed 20minutes late and arriving in college ten minutes later than I normally do....good going if I do say so myself.

Rory Gallagher

Welcome back! .....this is going to get tedious.

I want to talk to you about one of my favourite artists, of music. The late and bloody great Rory Gallagher.

Anyone who's Irish and likes music (I except, it's a certain taste in music required) should know about this international legend of blues and blues-rock.

Born in Donegal and raised in Cork, he started out in the showbands of the 60's, moved around Europe for a bit, came back home to form the band Taste at the end of the 60's.

Their peak came at the Isle of White Festival of 1970, soon after which they disbanded.

Gallagher became a solo artist and with the help of Gerry McEvoy and succession of drumers, toured Europe for three decades.

Rory died in 1995 after complications involving an operation.

His music lives on and he has more fans now than he ever did. They all come together every year to celebrate his legacy in Donegal every May at the Rory Gallagher festival.

The Weekend

Last weekend was I think only the fifth Saturday night in the last two years that I've stayed in. I'm not used to it but it was the first time I didnt feel like I missed anything.

Could of went out last night, but then O'Mahonney's won he final, so I thought I'd be better off (safer) staying at home.

So I ended up just working all weekend, same story, different chapter.
